"Get Alarmed Kansas" free smoke alarms for Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing

Through its Get Alarmed Kansas program the Office of the State Fire Marshal provides free smoke alarms to citizen of the state who needs one.

For those who can not hear the alarm... they offer free alarm devices that react to the sound of the actual smoke alarm with loud sounds, flashing lights and by vibrating the bed.

To qualify, you must be a Kansas resident, be certified as deaf or hard-of-hearing by a health care professional, and NOT live in an institutional facility.

Once approved, alarms will be delivered to your home by a participating fire department who can ensure alarms are set up properly and you are instructed in how to operate. For more information call 785-291-3586.
