Notice of Opportunity for a Public Hearing and Notice for Public Comment for Proposed Improvements at Parsons Tri-City Airport

The City of Parsons, Kansas intends to undertake the following proposed actions at Parsons Tri-City Airport (PPF):

·       Construct a new parallel taxiway; ultimate length of 4,200 feet
·       Install new medium-intensity taxiway lighting
·       Remove obstructions such as shrubs and trees

Project information can be reviewed at this website; https://www.parsonsks.com.

We are providing an opportunity for a public hearing.  A public hearing will only be held if someone requests one.  In the event a request for a public hearing is made by the specified date, a Notice of Public Hearing will be published on this website.  If a hearing is held, we will address the proposed action's potential economic, social, and environmental impacts.  In addition, we will address the project's consistency with the goals and objectives of the affected area's land use or planning strategy.

Those wishing to request a public hearing on the project must make their request in writing by email or letter postmarked no later than April 24, 2025, to either of the addresses listed below.

Floodplain Information
·       The purpose of the proposed action is to improve airfield operations so larger aircraft have sufficient space to turn and taxi to the apron after landing on Runway 17/35.
·       The City of Parsons, Kansas is seeking FAA funding and approval of an action occurring in the base floodplain or an action that would affect that floodplain.
·       The proposed action is located at Parsons Tri-City Airport (PPF), approximately 12 miles west of the City of Parsons, Kansas, near the intersection of US 400 and US-169.
·       Limited tree and shrub cover near the taxiway will be removed to improve ground visibility and reduce the potential for wildlife strikes along the taxiway and runway.
·       The affected floodplain's existing natural and beneficial values include flood storage and conveyance, stormwater filtration, and providing wildlife habitat.

Those wishing to provide written comments must do so by email or letter postmarked no later than May 9, 2025, to either of the addresses listed below.
