Public Storm Shelters

Storm Siren
Storm siren testing will be conducted at noon every Monday weather permitting beginning in early March through October. (Sirens are not tested during cold weather months.)

A storm siren.

Public Storm Shelters
When storm sirens are sounded, or a tornado warning is issued, it means a tornado has been sighted and cover should be taken immediately. Because of potential short warning time, citizens are encouraged to make arrangements with neighbors who have basements or safe rooms, so shelter can be taken as close to home as possible.

The public shelters may be available, but due to space limitations, should be used as a last resort. Sorry for any inconvenience, however, animals (other than service animals) are not allowed at the shelter.
